Project Summary

The Gorek, Bakong and Larak field development project was a significant project involving extensive subsea construction activity with simultaneous ROV , Crane and Diving operations.

The stability and superior station keeping ability of the Southern Star gave confidence to all project stakeholders to continue work into the Monsoon season.

The project was completed successfully and was the first time that the Southern Star achieved the Shell safety case approval for diving, and performed a full HRF mating trail

The McDermott Shell Gorek, Bakong, and Larok Field development was the first time the Shelf Hyperbaric Rescue Facility (HRF) was deployed with the Southern Star. The successful testing and certification of the HRF has seen it used on multiple projects since.
