Case Study

Deepwater FPSO Maintenance

Project Scope of Work

ENI Maura Bakau operate the Jangkrik (JKK) complex and the Jangkrik Northeast complex (JKKNE) fields that has a subsea production system incorporating a total of 12 wells, 5 PLEMS, and a series of umbilicals and flexible lines that feed to a moored FSU that processes and exports gas through a 24” line and 4” Condensate line to shore.  The entire JKK and JKKNE complex require planned Inspection and Maintenance work as well as undergoing frequent expansion of the production system.

The system operates in water depths of 200m to 500m.

The following were included in the Scope of work:

  • FPU UWILD and Mooring inspection (DNV class special survey)
  • SPS Maintenance/Repair
  • Valve manipulation, Fly lead disconnection, HFL replacement, Electrical line fault finding.
  • JKK SPS inspection/survey (Flexible risers, umbilicals, SSIV, MWA, Hydraulic and Electrical Flying leads, SBNP Buoy, Pipeline survey and MBES survey.
  • SBNP deployment
  • SI CITV replacement
  • JKKNE Inspection/Survey – umbilicals, flexibles, FLET, Manifolds, Flying leads, SDU, UTA, Christmas Trees and Well heads.

Project Summary

The Maura Bakau project was completed successfully and another project with significant logistical challenges overcome by the project management and engineering teams.  COVID made the sourcing of both people, equipment and spare extremely difficult.

The IRM work itself was extremely varied ranging from general inspection work to class standard surveys, new installation and comprehensive maintenance and repair program done up to depths of 500m.
